How To: Bead/Jewelry Websites

Should You Start a Website for Your Bead or Jewelry Business?

Selecting a Domain Name for Your Bead or Jewelry Website

Disclaimer

There are frequently links on this site to lampwork classes, bead shows, other people's bead auctions, and other bead and jewelry related websites. I am not responsible for the validity or quality of these other sites or sellers. Please use appropriate judgment when evaluating lampwork auctions, classes, etc.

About This Site

  • artist promotion
  • lampwork promotion
  • sell your work

This website started out as an ecommerce site to sell my lampwork beads but a severe back injury has made production beadmaking impossible so I turned it into a place where other lampworkers can be featured and promote their art.  I have noticed that it is hard for many artists to promote their own work.  There are many reasons for this: modesty, lack of technical expertise, the confusing and ever-changing world of website/auction promotion.  However, self-promotion is critical to the artist's success.  It's one thing to make something beautiful, it's quite another to get people to notice it.  :)

If you sell on eBay and your lampwork auctions are listed there as SRA, I will see them.  If I think they are interesting, fun, or particularly well done, they will show up here as well.  You don't need to do anything special.  My subscribers are serious beaders who rely on my posts to help them find new talent, hidden bargains, and the best lampwork beads around.  If I have posted links to your work here and you want it removed for some reason, just email me.

If you would like to post your work here, promote it, tell us about a sale or a bead show or a tutorial you made or something I encourage you to register and start promoting your work.  I am very generous with my front page.  However, to do much of anything here you will need to apply for or be assigned a role.  I'm pretty good at noticing new people and assigning them an appropriate role, but you can also apply for one from your profile page.  Fill out your profile as much as possible so I can see who you are.  This helps me keep those nasty spammers off of here so we can all enjoy it.

Handmade lampwork beads are a colorful way to add unique design elements to your jewelry and art projects. Glass beadmaking is a rapidly emerging art. There are many different lampwork bead artists providing these unique and wonderful glass art beads. Each bead is a unique piece of glass art. There is an enormous quality difference between artist-made lampwork beads and those made in bulk. If you want exceptional beads for your jewelry designs or arts and crafts projects, look for beads made by a self-representing artist.

Sincerely,

Jo
