About Me

I focus on quality, style, fun color combinations, and whimsical sculpted beads (dragons, mermaids, bees, cats, Goddess beads, etc.). My beads are made in my Northwest studio of Effetre (Moretti) or Lauscha glass and are properly kiln annealed, cleaned, and ready for your designs.

I never intended to become a lampworker. This lifestyle/work/obsession is the result of an accident. Really. It’s true. It started because my dear hubby is a pyromaniac. I say that with the most loving amusement. He loves to weld, BBQ, and make camp fires wherever he conceivably can. He’s totally dangerous during the 4th of July. In college he took some silver smithing, which he enjoyed enormously. I enjoyed it too since I was the happy recipient of his creations. Because of his interest, I started beading (I’m terrified of fire) and beading was fun and complimentary to his work and it didn’t involve things that burn. Eventually we both started selling our creations.
At one point I ordered some lampwork beads on eBay. When they arrived I was stunned. They were just amazing! Colorful and bright and fun, nothing like the gemstones I had been using. I was hooked. At the time there weren’t nearly as many lampworkers as there are now and good beads were hard to come by. So I ordered a beginning lampwork kit for my hubby. My thought was that he (as a pyromaniac) would probably like it and I would get the beads I desired. Win/win.

We set it up and read the books. He made some beads and then made some more. I watched with growing fascination. Eventually I sat down and made some beads and then made some more. And then I told him to go back to silver smithing because the torch was mine! That was in 2002. I’ve been playing with fire and glass ever since.

Lampwork isn't my only interest. I'm also into writing Science Fiction and Fantasy. You can find a reprint of one of my short stories in Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine's Best of Fantasy Anthology. I've also finished my first novel and am working on my second.
